I'm addicted to the rosemary and olive oil bagels here, especially when stuffed with cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, cucumbers and lox. I'm also addicted to the customer service. For instance... one morning the rosemary bagels came out slightly smaller than expected. I doubt I would have even noticed the difference, but the manager immediately said something and gave me an extra bagel to make up for the half-centimeter missing from the first bagel's diameter.

I always get the same thing - Spinach Cheddar & Egg on a plain dbl toated bagel, and it's always great. What's even more surprising is that attitude of every employee - ALWAYS positive and friendly. High five to the Manager and corporate for instilling a positive vibes in the employees! It's rare and it t shows!

Although I have not historically been a Bruggers" fan, I have changed my mind. The roasted tomato soup is excellent...not too acidic, not too sweet, lots of tomato texture. I've also been a traditionalist about bagel flavors, except for raisin, but the real reason to return to Brueggers is for the rosemary/olive oil bagel. Skinny for a sandwich is perfect, melt in your mouth, perfection. And their lunch special for $6.99 including a drink is a great bargain!

the bagels are alright, the coffee is alright. the tea they carry (can't remember the brand) is awesome. there is one employee who makes me never want to go back there again. she's an older lady & she is incredibly rude to the customers. asking for anything from her is followed by sighs like you've asked her to change her life for you. she's commented to me before-being quite rude and really just making it not a pleasure to be there. i gave two stars though, because all of the other employees are really nice, the sandwiches are tasty & the chairs near the door are great for settling in & reading with your food & beverages. i won't be going there if that specific employee is there, but it's a decent place to hang out & grab some food.

Used to love their bagels when they had a store several years ago in River Forest, so was glad to see them open in Oak Park. We visited ok a Sunday midday. Pretty busy, but there was a "greeter" making sure people got waited in quickly. There was a special turkey bagle sandwich that included Herbed cream cheese and some sun dried tomatoes for $2.99 and was really yummy. Free refils on coffee and pop, free wireless and a really large ladies room will make this a favorite weekend breakfast stop for me. I expect too, that this new shop will give the nearby Paners Bread a lot of competition.

A bagel and cream cheese and your good! Want a breakfast sandwich with microwaved eggs... This is your place! Still superior to Starbucks food but low on the totem pole for a good quality breakfast. Love their bagels tho!

I have gone here almost every day for the last few month and the food is excellent, seriously some of the best breakfast i have had. Their bagel sandwiches are the bomb. The employees are kind of friendly depending on the day, but damn do they love to complain. Gino the older gent. who i Believe runs the place is awesome, super friendly and just a great guy. I'd hire him in a heart beat at my business, but the rest of the staff is a bunch of complainers. All they do is talk bad about how their setup is and its really not that bad. Now and again these guys are a bit understaffed, which is ok, but they need to move their butts in high gear. I'd keep going more often if i knew i weren't going to deal with a whiner.

Solid, solid bagel place choice. The employees here were super fun and friendly on National Hangover Day (January 2) and the bagels were good! I remember this chain from my childhood in Michigan, and it's great to see it holds up even now. Lots of different bagel-y options, including sandwiches, both breakfast and lunch, and the very necessary lox!
(4)
Christina B.
Yay! They've shaped up a bit! Employees are a bit more on the ball lately than usual. Bagel sandwiches are not overloaded with cream cheese so you can actually keep the sandwich in one piece. How refreshing not to have the egg fall out of the bagel! Hope it continues! :)

If in town and i want a bagel i definitely would go here. Alot to choose from, cream cheese toppings included. You can make it a breakfast sandwich as well. They usually have muffins as well. Friendly staff, good prices.

I admit, I sometimes eat here. If I'm in a hurry and just need a snack I'll stop in. But let's get something straight: Brueggers does NOT serve real bagels. These are midwestern delusions of what bagels are supposed to be.

Excellent bagels. Fresh and tasty. Food prepared with care. Staff is efficient and friendly. Coffee is very good. Array of flavored cream cheese to suit your taste. The only thing I find fault with is the decor. It is in need of a freshen up makeover. The booths have been falling apart for two years and there are actually open holes in the wall. This does not reflect on the quality of the food or service but somebody please notice because the back of a booth should not fall on you when you are sitting in it. Wish there was more than 1 in Illinois.

Bruegger's is my favorite go-to place when I need to grab a quick, cheap lunch while at work and here's why: 1. The Staff: I put them at the top of my list because they are so kind, quick, and never screw up my order. In addition, whenever they run out of bagel bites (which are complimentary with a soup order), they have offered to cut a fresh bagel for me at no additional cost. Thanks Oak Park Bruegger staff. 2. The bagels: You know how bagels are supposed to be filling and you "should" only eat one? It's really hard with Bruegger's. They have a large array of bagels that are freshly baked and delicious. You can never go wrong with a fresh deli sandwich (any combination imaginable can be found here) or with a bit of cream cheese. 3. Chicken Spaetzle Soup: It's my favorite - my normal meal when I walk into Bruegger's. They tend to run out by late afternoon, so make sure you get there early to try some! 4. The salads: Always fresh. Bruegger's is a wonderful bagel and deli. I know I can keep coming back and not be disappointed by anything.

Wife and I have been here almost on a monthly basis since we moved to Oak Park. They are really friendly, and not in a fake overtrained corporate way. The bagel selection is decent and always fresh baked and tasty. Usually get the bagel with cream cheese and lox with an iced coffee. It's slow during the week which is nice. The weekends especially Sunday are pretty crowded with tons of people.

Brueggers offers a lot of interesting choices for their bagel sandwiches (Thai Peanut Chicken!) and the ingredients are always fresh and tasty. But the real reason I'm taking the time to write a review of Brueggers is the customer service. Every time my wife and I have stopped into Brueggers with our 1 year old daughter, everyone behind the counter has been friendly, attentive and so welcoming to our little one. The store is clean, bright and they always have an interesting satellite radio station playing. For a good bite in a great atmosphere, Brueggers is always on our list.

So good, we visited it twice during our stay in Forest Park! Usually we attempt to try all new restaurants when we're staying somewhere new, but the deliciousness of the smoked salmon sandwich and the awesomeness of the cream cheese brought us skipping back. We literally got off a stop early on the L and walked a ridiculous distance to find a closed shop (that was disappointing, I should have remembered they are not open late). We still went back the next morning. The lox sandwich is fresh, addictive and will leave you with some less-than-amazing breath. The rosemary and olive oil bagel is the best I've tasted; I was glad I ventured out of my usual bubble. The garden veggie cream cheese is also a good recommendation and combined with the rosemary bagel it is quite the breakfast. I also had my usual, plain with strawberry cream cheese. The bagel (like the rosemary one) was cooked perfectly. The cream cheese had real chunks of strawberries! Wow. The only con (and really it's not a con at all) is the large amounts of cream cheese they pile on the bagels- I feel bad wasting food, so next time I'll ask for easy cream cheese. Stop here for some deliciousness in bagel form. **Wednesday they have $5.99 for a dozen bagels**

I am so glad that Oak Park got a Brueggers again. I remember when I went to high school (a long time ago) in Oak Park that there used to be one in the shopping center that Boston Market is and I was very sad when they closed. This one is bigger than the first but just as good as I remember. Their bagels are obviously delicious, but they also have lots of sandwiches, soups, etc. that are all pretty good. One of my favorite places for bagels - I will make sure I stop by the next time I am in Oak Park.

Love this place. Used to have several Bagel places in Berwyn but they all closed down so I tried Bruggers by default and was pleasantly surprised. Bagels are always fresh and the sandwiches are very good. Plus free wifi is always a nice touch. Can get crowded in the morning and parking on Lake Street can be a nightmare.
I have forever banned the dunkin donuts in this area so I was happy to see that a new quick breakfast place popped up near where I take the el. Stick to plain coffee because the flavored ones are watered down (or at least they were today). The staff was happy to get me a new cup though. The bagel options were pretty nice and they also have various breakfast sandwiches (and salads and stuff for lunch). The staff was really nice throwing around good mornings and smiles and singing! yes singing! When was the last time you sang at work? Probably never. One note to Bruegger...use a new knife to spread cream cheese on every bagel. I never again want to taste an everything bagel while eating my raisin bagel...onion and raisin don't mix.

The good - AMAZING atmosphere created by the staff. I stop here for breakfast whenever I'm running late and there's an open parking spot on the street! Make sure to ask for a punch card (there are cards for coffee, breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches). Everyone is so kind and friendly, and they get you out as fast as they can. If you stay, there's free wifi, comfortable seating and music that's more upbeat and popular than you'll find at other locations. The bad - I really do not like their flavored coffees. Every season I'm tempted to try the new flavor, and I always regret it. I was once served egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel (I had ordered wheat); I didn't realize until I was in the car, and I ate it because I was starving, but it was disgusting. Sometimes the flavors get mixed in other ways - for example, your cinnamon bagel might end up tasting oniony.

If you enjoy the occasional lox sandwich for lunch, as I do, this is your place. Or, they have a variety of other bagel sandwiches and also soup, which I have not tried but is popular with my coworkers. Also I am a big fan of their delicious pumpernickel bagels. I buy 6, have them slice them, then I freeze them and defrost one at a time when I want a bagel.

I grew up around Brueggers in upstate NY and jumped for joy when I discovered one was moving into Oak Park. Not only had it made no sense to me that there wasn't already a good local bagel shop, but I couldn't have asked for a better one than this to move in. Welcome to the neighborhood, Brueggers! I recommend the pumpernickel bagel and light herb and garlic or garden veggie cream cheeses. Basically, all the cream cheeses are good, though these are my favorites.

THE BEST SERVICE, AND WITH A SMILE!!!! While visiting my son who just moved to Oak Park, we happened to see a Brueggers Bagels. We used to have one in our town, however has since closed. They have added alot to their menu, but do have the best bagels in my opinion. I am all about service, and this place is the best. It was the end of the day, and they were still very friendly and welcomed our order. I asked the name of the young man so that I could mention him in this review. Kevin was friendly, outgoing, and made sure that customers were taken care of. These are the type of young people we need to see more of in most places today. I was very impressed. The facility was very clean, and both young men were working while not taking care of customers. This is a great place for that light breakfast, lunch, or just a bagel and coffee. Great Job Brueggers!!! Will definitely return...

I love Brueggers!!! I am always lamenting the lack of a "real" bagel near home and although the truly real need to come from the place up near Skokie/Lincolnwood, these are so much better than Einstein or DD or the local grocery offerings. The only way I can describe these is as having a nice "shell" to the outside, where other ones are just soft all the way around and through. I also think these have a bit more salt in the dough, which is great. Best part is that when you buy a dozen they will give you freezer bags AND punch your repeat customer card so that when you buy 12 dozen, you get the next round free! My mornings are now perfect thanks to this being around.

This place was pretty sad. Maybe the middle of the day is a bad time for a bagel place, they had nothing on their "coffee drink menu" and the bagel and cream cheese I got tasted as though it had been out for a WHILE. The service was friendly though..hence the 2 stars.

These are the bagels that taste like bagels used to. The bagels at most places now are just a big Kaiser roll. The bagels at Brueggers are so great that I buy them by the dozen. They are $2 cheaper for a dozen on Wednesdays, too!

A horrible experience. Mediocre fare and rude staff. Our guest from New York wanted to have a bagel for breakfast. My wife and I met her in Oak Park at Brueggers. My wife and I arrived first and ordered our breakfast. Put it on a credit card. Young man preparing the bagels was such a disinterested cliché, he should be cast in the next Seth Rogan/Jonah Hill movie. Checker overlooked my wife's bottled water so I had to run my credit card again. A homeless guy was then served coffee at the counter and spent an hour sitting in the booth next to us ranting like an insane person. No one asked him to quiet down or leave. My friend then arrived and we ordered her breakfast. When we were leaving I thought, as a courtesy, I'd bring all of our baskets and paper refuse up to the counter for disposal. While I was walking away, I was firmly "instructed", by a pointed finger, that I needed to discard everything in the hole at the service bar. As if, "it's not my job to handle your garbage". I will never return to Bruegger's again. Beware.

Cinnamon Bagel with Honey Almond Cream Cheese was absolutely awesome! The bagel was light and toasting it made it even better. The people were nice and they have plenty of room for you to sit and enjoy and look onto the street!

Great breakfast bagel sandwichs and super friendly staff!

These are the bagels that taste like bagels used to. The bagels at most places now are just a big Kaiser roll. The bagels at Brueggers are so great that I buy them by the dozen. They are $2 cheaper for a dozen on Wednesdays, too!
